1GBC stands for one-gigabaud fiber channel. It is a data transmission protocol that pushes one billion symbols per second across an optical link. While higher capacity standards handle most heavy traffic, this baseline architecture established the foundation for high-speed storage area networks and point-to-point fiber connections.
The old storage array is still running on a 1GBC link, so we need to upgrade the transceivers before migrating the data.
Baud rate and bit rate are not always identical, but in 1GBC systems using simple encoding schemes, they often align closely.
