A method of connecting a three-phase power system where the three windings or loads are wired end-to-end in a triangle, resembling the Greek letter delta. Unlike a star connection, a delta connection has no neutral point, meaning it only provides a single voltage level between phases. It is heavily used in transmission networks and motor windings because it provides high reliability; if one phase fails, the system can sometimes continue operating in an open-delta configuration.
Wire the motor in a delta connection so we get the full line voltage across each winding.
A delta connection traps zero-sequence harmonic currents circulating within the loop, preventing them from flowing into the external network.
