A wire running directly between two multi-way switches, carrying the switched hot leg depending on the toggle positions. In North America, these are universally called travelers. The term strapper is primarily used in British and Commonwealth electrical systems for the exact same function in a two-way lighting circuit.
Run a three-core cable between the switches so you have enough conductors for the strappers and the earth.
