T-peel

nounStandard termAdhesives

A peel test where two flexible strips bonded face to face are pulled apart in a T shape.

Both adherends bend as they are pulled apart, as in ASTM D1876, so the test measures the bond's resistance to peeling with no rigid backing. It suits thin metal, film and fabric laminates and is a common screening test for structural adhesive toughness and surface prep. Results are averaged over the steady part of the peel curve, ignoring the initial spike.

Heard on the job

T-peel on the toughened epoxy is triple the standard one, that's what we need for the crash parts.
